Back in New Orleans! It’s Amaranthe’s first time here, but I’ve been here before playing a show with Kamelot supporting Nightwish, I never forget that evening when we drank Handgranate and Alissa White-Gluz taught me how to Growl. 🙂
We took a walk around the city before soundscheck. It’s so incredible, I love this city! We played in the small room at House of Blues, probably the smallest stage we’ve ever played at. But wtf, who cares, we had a fabulous time anyways! 🙂 After the show we met some of the adorable visitors, it’s always nice to get the chance to speak and take some Photos after the show. Apparently at least 5 people saw us supporting Within Temptation in New York, that venue was a bit bigger, so it must have been different to see us headline in a living room in New Orleans, biggest contrast ever. We are happy you came to support us!
I want to say special Thanks to Phillip, and Dana and her husband for taking us out on another unforgettable night through Bourbon street. This street seems to never close, but around four it did. We went back to the bus and eventually to bed after seeing the most beautiful sunrise ever while driving towards Florida.
Houston
House of Blues in Huston was fantastic! We played in the smaller room, and I loved it, because it felt so personal and intimate. You guys, who came to see us, thank you! And thanks for singing along crazy load. 🙂 After the show we went to a club near by and had some Bud Lights, my favorite American beer. Another late night up. By this point I have totally turned the day around. We had, like every day lately, a party in the bus, I stayed awake till 7 in the morning. We play late, we eat late, we gather extreme amounts of adrenaline and energy from playing the show and meet our fans, and that makes it just impossible to go to sleep within at least 6-7 hours after the show ends. Besides all the greatness it feels like we need to go home soon. We’ve been on the road to long and all of us misses our loved ones at home too much.
Dallas
Gas Monkey! Wao, such a cool place! We had such a great time! It was really nice to play out door, weather was great, a little bit too warm maybe, but as the night arrived it got better. Thanks to the people who
showed up at the show, we had a blast. After the show we hung out with the support band, a local band called Unveiled. Amazing people, they took us to a place near by the Venue where they played live country music, we danced both line dance and ride the bull. I hit my arm pretty bad when I fell of, I still have a blue mark and a scar still, but it was defiantly worth it. 🙂 Also thanks to Gas Monkey for giving us new looks.
Mexico City
Hi everyone!
The schedule while headline is a whole different story. It’s been crazy, lots of traveling and constant work, so I’m sorry I haven’t made any posts here till now. Today we’ve had our first day off since the show in Mexico. It was a fantastic show, I was surprised by the support and the screaming from the audience. I never here’d anyone call out my name that loud! 😀 It was a very happy moment for me, and the band, to receive that kind of support we got from the Mexican audience. We arrived very late the day before the show, and l couldn’t sleep until 5 in the morning because I saw a suspect spider on the wall. I’m not afraid of spiders normally, because we do not have a single dangerous spider in Sweden, but in Mexico you sure have. I googled on “Mexican spiders” to see if I could find out what art this spider was, I shouldn’t have done that.
Sexism goes both ways. Feminism helps both.
Trip to Dallas
The journey from Japan to Dallas went good. The flight was only half full, so I laid down at three seats and slept almost for 6 hours. I also saw four very good movies, Neighbours, Jump Street 22, Malifisent, and Blended. 🙂 Before stepping on the plain me and Olof had one last real Japanese sushi dinner.
When we arrived around 12 in the evening we took a shuttle to the hotel, and that’s where we’ve spent the last two days. Tomorrow we are going to Mexico!
Clothes – Loud Park
For the show at aloud Park I wore the skirt I got from shopping with Metal injection at Nu New York.
http://www.metalinjection.net/video/amaranthes-elize-ryd-shops-for-stage-clothes
I bought the top on a website called Bubbleroom, it’s my favorite webshop!
The belt I bought last time I went to Japan at a small boutique, which I unfortunately can’t remember the name of.
Neckless and bracelet from Jord, a very nice boutique in Stenungsund, Sweden.
Shoes Scorett.
Loud Park
We had a fantastic show at Load Park. The audience was amazing! Our set started at 2.50, we played one hour. As always when you play festivals, if not headline, you don’t get any sound sheck, so my hearing was not so good during the first couple of songs. But it got better through the set as I gave instructions to the sound engineer.
When we were about to play Electroheart, Morten put on Amaranthine instead, and I got very shocked. I said “oy” out load in the microphone, haha! It was not part of the plan, very confusing. 😉 I got the honor to meet some friends again! After the signing session we headed back to the hotel. At 11 we left to The Radio where we later performed two acoustic songs.
Japan
My impression of Japan is very good,
it’s something very special about it. The way it makes me feel is something I haven’t experienced anywhere else in the world. I feel safe, it’s organized, family’s stick together, the food is healthy, every person is sweet, It’s clean, toilets are amazing, the music scene is great, record stores still exists. It’s magical. I think we will be back in April next year, when the cherry trees bloom, omg, it can’t get any better.
Our schedule was pretty freaking ruff, I’ll tell you a little about it.
First of all the yet leg is the worse, 13 hours time difference. We flew out on the 15:th of October, my birthday, at 9.50 from New York. Landed in Japan at 16.00 (4) the next day. Nobby, the King if Universal, picked us up and Mariko, the queen of memory and translation. We checked in at Hilton Hotel, and around 8 we had a meeting and dinner in the hotel restaurant.
The following day I woke up at 5 in the morning, hungry like hell. So I stayed awake and watched Japanese Television for two hours before heading down to the breakfast buffe, which btw was the best I’ve had so far in my life.
So press day, means that you go to different radiostations, and to Universals head office and meet different media and answer their questions. 🙂 It was very fun! Later we went to Disk Union for a signing session, where we got the chance to meet some of the owners of our album, shake hands and hug. I love to see the persons who actually listens to our music. We are connected in a strong way since, at least I, share my inner through the music.
Since it was recently my birthday I received many gifts! Here are some of them. It made me very happy, thank you very much!!
P.s: I tried the bath salt already, it was fantastic! And regarding iPhone 6, I haven’t been able to buy it yet. 😉
Worcester
Last show with Within Temptation. I woke up at 2.30, then I had two interviews starting at 3. It was lots of fun. I might have looked a little tired, since I was for some strange reason.. haha! Well, then I got the honor to eat dinner with Matt and his friend. I had such a great time together with them! 🙂 Showtime in the Ghost house at 8 went great. Loved the crowd, and the old venue. I have been very glad to see, during this tour with Within Temptation, for one many girls in the audience. I love to see that! 🙂 After the show I was hungry and I met a guy outside the bus who followed me to UNO. 🙂 Then I had to hurry back to take a group photo with WT on stage.
Afterwords I packed all my stuff and moved out from the bus. Spent the night at Hilton Hotel. Now I’m in a car on out way to New York. Kisses and Hugs everyone! And Thanks to Within Temptation, and their fans for an amazing tour!! <3
New York
Wao, finally. New York City my future home, I wish.. haha! First of all we walked to Central Park and had breakfast, then I went to the Apple Store to buy the new iPhone 6+, but it was sold out. The evening was fantastic, great venue. Huge!! I loved the audience, a little quiet in the beginning but then they popped and became extremely load. I don’t know if it was our
music, or the beer. Haha! 😉 My cousins was there with her boyfriend. She lives and works as a model in New York. After the show they took me to an amazing food place. And then we continued to Space, where we got invited to one of the VIP tables. I was blown away by that club. One of the coolest I ever been to. Olof and Henrik came along as well. We had a crazy night together. I went to bed at 8 I clock in the morning…. Sometimes it’s ok to be a little crazy. 😉
Philadelphia
Philadelphia, recognized the venue very well and remember last time I played there was with Kamelot supporting Nightwish. I slept in very late, since I wasn’t able to sleep during the night, so I basically didn’t do anything before the show. First time I performed in Philly was in China Town, so I’ve seen that. 🙂
The show went great, another night with really good respond from
the audience. Thank you so very much! I lt was nice spending time with some of you after the show. I loved the painting.. 😉
Day off in Baltimore
Today we had a day off again, and I finally got time to go shopping. I have by far had the best ‘day off’ on this tour today. Started out at Hard Rock Cafe and drank a big cold glass of water, haha. Had a coffee at Panera. After that I found a mall with lots of cool stores. I bought “smell good things” at Bath & Body, and some stuff at Victoria’s Secret. I also found something I’ve needed for a very long time, something very mature and functional… a watch!
🙂 I also got myself a 20 minute neck, and back, massage. Then I had dinner at Cheesecake Factory, and talked one hour in phone with three different interviewers from Australia. Amaranthe is planning to go there next year, it would be awesome. One place we have not been to so far. Now it is time to hit the bed. Sleep well everyone! 🙂 Kisses and hugs!
Baltimore
I got the opportunity to really get to know this city during the last three days! Baltimore is a place worth visiting, I’ve had a fantastic time here. The show last night was fantastic! The audience were adorable. 🙂 The venue/club was probably the most odd and cool club I’ve ever seen! It had many different floors and non of the walls were straight, except the one behind the stage. For the first time on this tour I experienced that the sound came out really weird in my head. The sound probably jumped, hit the walls and came
back in a different way. I always keep one ear open so that I can hear the audience. By using my muscle memory I continued to deliver as good as I could – with one ear hearing one key, and the other another. Haha! It was Amaranthe’s first time in Baltimore, and I believe it won’t be the last. 🙂 I also want to thank the sweet people I met before and after the show. I’m looking forward to see you again! Remember – You are invincible!

Montreal
All right, here we go! Montreal, two words, great succes!! 😀 During our day off we went to a Sports Bar for Dinner, and then I hooked up with Justine and brought all the guys (almost) to see Lacuna Coil play live at Corona Theatre. The next day I slept very long, went back to that same sports bar and ate a salad. I got the honor to meet some fans and sign autographs. I got three red very beautiful roses, and a early birthday bag filled with garden picked, red, fresh apples. Thank you! They taste amazing! :)) During the show I was in extace, I was high on how load the audience were, our sound guy told us you guys screamed in 109 db! Thank you, love you!! I got the honor to meet another close friend, Alissa. I had so much fun in Canada, wished we cold have
stayed a little bit longer. 🙂
Toronto
Just stepped of the stage here in Toronto! Thanks for a fantastic response! 🙂 Here we saw the real big mosh pit happen, during Drop Dead Cynical. 😀 Totally Fantastic!! We arrived pretty earlier this morning. I woke up around 12, I wanted to swim in the pool because the sun was shining and it was really warm, but as soon as I was ready it started to rain. So I spent
the whole day in the bus. Oh, we had an interview as well. Tomorrow we have a day
Detroit
Detroit – Probably the loudest audience so far, omg! Haha 😀 Loved the show. I visited Detroit with Kamelot couple of years ago for the first time. It felt awesome to be back, I know many bands doesn’t go there. Like when we did the Nightwish tour we didn’t go to Detroit. Anyways, first I woke up around 2.30… I had breakfast, McDonald’s was the only place near what we could see. :/ And then I had an interview with the sweetheart Lance from Raw Radio. Then I went for a walk and I fount out the hood was really cosy. Lots of shops, a massage place and all that. Didn’t have time to go though cause we had to load the stage and do soundcheck. We had dinner at the venue and then it was time for the show. 🙂 Everything went great, besides that Johan’s base broke so he disappeared half way through the show. Shit happens as we speak, 😉 still managed to pull of an incredible show thanks to the positive audience. :))
After the show I met a guy I been longing to meet for a very long time. His name is Josh and he have made beautiful, special tattoos on his arm. After some time we had like 6 guests on the bus. It was crowded. At 12 Johan’s birthday started so we sang for him and everybody started to drink even more than before. I drank cocoanut water, haha. Anyways. We all had to stay awake since we were crossing the boarder to Canada. Bus left the venue at two, our guests left the bus of course, and we arrived to the boarder at 3. Everything went smooth, I was tired like hell. But then I went from being tired to not tired at all. So we ended the night in a crazy way. Me, Olof, Johan and Henrik jumped into his bunk and started to tell Ghost stories. I got so scared and almost not able to sleep. But well, then I realized that being in a tour bus is probable the less Ghost friendly place to be at.
Hope to be back in Detroit soon to meet you all again. 🙂 Kisses and hugs!
Chicago
Chicago – simply amazing! One of the bands favorite show so far. I appreciate all kinds of crowd, but it always makes it a little bit easier to improvise and just kind of get crazy on stage, and have fun, when the audience is. I know it’s up to the band to create that emotion, especially as the supporting act. I’m very grateful for that spirit you created for us. I had a fantastic time! The day started a little chaotic. Person related issues made my morning a nightmare. I hate waking up crying, it kind of makes the rest of the day tough. But I had to keep it together and focus on the positive things. I went to eat breakfast at Einstein Bagels around 1 o clock. Christian and Mike came with me. After that we had one interview and then a guy filmed a very famous “Cribs” of our tour bus. That was veeery fun! 🙂 Then, a girlfriend of mine Grace Méridan, that I’ve actually met through Sabrina Cruz on Facebook, came by to hang out with me. We went to Starbucks for a coffee. After that I had soundcheck. Then, as usual, I did my makeup and got dressed in my bus, I like to do it there so I don’t have to drag my stuff around all the time. Well, then we played the show, and I already wrote what I think about that. 🙂 I was very exited and happy, so I joined Grace and her girl friend in the balcony to see Within Temptations show. Amazing, the crowed loved them, and they loved the crowd. I went to use the shower before their show ended, afterwords we had a huge party in the bus. I ate cookies and drank water, it was lots of fun. Oh, and I got the chance to meet some from the audience and sign autografs. Plenty of them hadn’t here’d of us before, I was happy to hear that Within Temptations fans also seemed to like us. I went to bed around 4.30… Long day. Biggest Hug to you! 🙂 Hope to see you soon!
Minneapolis
Hey guys and thank you for an amazing evening!
Let’s go back to the trip to Minneapolis… I think each member slept around 2-3 h, because apparently the roads where bumpy as hell. It feet like being in a roller coaster, actually pretty fun. 🙂 I still could sleep ok. I went with my friend Mike to eat breakfast, at Starbucks, and then we bought Swedish-American converters for the stage. I got stuck at a really nice clothing store where I spent like one hour trying out different stage outfits. Couldn’t find any that felt great though. After that I went for soundcheck, then I changed clothes and put on my stage make and then Showtime at 7, one hour earlier than usually. The crowed was greeaaat!! 🙂 I could again see plenty of familiar faces, among the new ones.
After the show I met Nathan, an old friend who took me, Simone and Kamelot to probably one of the nicest restaurants in town about 5 years ago. Me and Simone ate a lot more than the boys, and I remember Nathan got very shocked. :p Haha! I also for once had the chance to chat a bit with The guys and girl from Within Temptation. It was great to finally getting the chance to hang out with some new flesh. We ate dinner at the place beside the venue called Depot, I had an strawberry salad which was great.
I got told later that night that the movie “Purple rain” was filmed at that same venue we played in. Really cool! 😀 And apparently another band plate next door from where we were, Sharon went over there and bought an album, check if out if your interested in hearing what they sounds like. 🙂
Oh, and btw we got a friend from Gothenburg visiting us today, his name is Christian and he will be traveling with us for the rest of the tour.
Kisses and hugs!
